Consistency

Saturday, November 14th, 2009

Oswald Chambers, in My Utmost for His Highest, for November 14

Beware of being obsessed with consistency to your own convictions instead of being devoted to God….There was never a more inconsistent being on this earth than our Lord, but He was never inconsistent with His Father. The important consistency in a saint is not to a principle but to the divine life. It is the divine life that continually makes more and more discoveries about the divine mind. It is easier to be an excessive fanatic than it is to be consistently faithful, because God causes an amazing humbling of our religious conceit when we are faithful to Him.

Listening Continues

Monday, November 9th, 2009

I guess that the topic of Listening is really not bringing me a lot to talk about. :)

I’m still not great at it. It takes a lot more work than I expected. Active listening, especially. But it’s a worthwhile endeavor, so I continue.

One of the things I will be practicing this week is also choosing what NOT to listen to. There’s a lot of noise and just plain garbage out there. (All you have to do is read one YouTube comments section to realize that…)

See you soon – with a few links to things I found worth a listen…

Need

Sunday, November 1st, 2009

And my God shall supply every need of yours according to His riches in glory… – Phil 4:19

…Cherish need because it is part of our relationship to God and His Universe. God has planned to meet our every need, has created the need within us, so God can supply….

A Month of Listening

Saturday, October 31st, 2009

I’ve signed up for NaBloPoMo for the month of November. There’s no assigned theme for November, so I will be focusing on “listening”.

Ultimately, it will be listening for God’s voice in my life, and taking note of anything that I find worth sharing. One of the spin-off benefits I hope to see is the practice of really listening to the people in my life as well.

March NaBloPoMo – Giving (Up)

Friday, March 6th, 2009

I’m giving up posting arbitrarily for a month. (Meaning, I’m giving up NaBloPoMo) :) I have too much else going on in life right now. Things that make a difference – like squeezing some exercise into my schedule. Given the choice between the two, my lazy butt would prefer to sit and blog, but 2009 is gonna be a good year and a lazy blogging butt won’t make that happen!

Have a wonderful weekend!

What is NaBloPoMo?

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

I have gotten this question several times over the past couple of days. You can read more about National Blog Posting Month at the official site here: http://www.nablopomo.com/

Happy Blogging!

March NaBloPoMo – Day 3 – Giving (up)

Tuesday, March 3rd, 2009

I’m giving up on being awake. Good night. Maybe I’ll find something more interesting to talk about tomorrow!

March NaBloPoMo – Day 2 – Giving (Up)

Monday, March 2nd, 2009

Today I am giving up a bit of ignorance. I have started tracking my nutritional intake using SparkPeople. Out of curiosity, I looked up one of my favorite Starbucks drinks.

As I started making my way through the Starbucks site, I realized that I may not like what I see once I got to the truth about what I have been consuming.

I didn’t.

But…I am glad to have done it. I don’t want to blindly close my eyes anymore. Today I strike a blow against my willful ignorance.

March NaBloPoMo – Day 1 – Giving (up)

Sunday, March 1st, 2009

Today, I am going to begin giving (up) trying to do it all, and instead will be trying to just do the next good and right thing.

I’m an Organizing Junkie’s Menu Plan Monday

It looks like I am often finding that my Friday meal plan gets pushed into Monday, which is actually a nice thing. There’s usually at least one day a week that changes the plans and pushes the meal plan off. The nice part is that I prefer doing groceries on Tuesday, as Monday always requires extra effort anyway, and by Tuesday I’m in a better routine.

Weekday Dinners

Monday – Crock Pot Pork Chops, potatoes and veggies

Tuesday – Reuben Crescents, Salad, & fruit

Wednesday – Leftover Reubens, etc.

Thursday – Crock Pot Thai Chicken Thighs over Jasmine Rice, Veggies

Friday – Leftover Thai Chicken

Weekend Breakfasts

Saturday – Breakfast Burritos – eggs, salsa, chorizo, hash browns, onions & cheese

Sunday – Leftover burritos
