BIG-time Bummer

1

Headed out to go to work this morning, only to find that the battery on my car was dead. BIG-time dead. Not even a little click.

It’s been one of those days….but it ended on a great note:

I am married to a very handy man who loves me a great deal and took pity on me — he not only bought me a brand new battery and installed it for me, but he also gave me a “what to do if you have to jump the battery” lesson! Learn something new every day!

So, “yay” for happy endings!

This afternoon I had one of those wonderful “perfect moments”. You know, the ones where just for a brief flash you realize THIS is life! THIS is a moment to enjoy. We bought our very first bike helmets (a first for all three of us), and J5 had his first ride on his new big boy bike. J4 and I got the tires inflated on our new (to us) bikes, and had a ride around our neighborhood.

We rode to the playground, where J5 had a swing and a slide, then declared it was time to go riding again. As we headed home, with J4 and J5 ahead of me, I was overwhelmed with gratitude for the ability to be outside, to be doing something good for our health, and for a chance to spend time with my two favorite guys in the whole world!

Multitude Monday – November 2

0

holy experience

I am restarting my participation in the Gratitude Community. It seems a fitting parallel with my November’s focus on Listening — taking note of things I hear and ways I am blessed.

And so I begin…

  1. The sound of my guys in the house…one counting over the monitor, the other yawning in his study. Contentment.
  2. Great weather (aka no rain) for the subdivision Halloween Parade which we have been planning for weeks.
  3. Finding books that speak God’s love in my ear, and hit me dead center in my heart
  4. The joy of organizational office supplies
  5. Discovering that listening is a lot less pressure than having the “right” things to say

(This was the post from last week…forgot to hit “Publish” Oops!)

One Thousand Gifts – Part 94

  • 760. Hearing from God from multiple directions at once. In gratitude, I return to this process of acknowledging the blessings He has given me.
  • 761. Friends. Too many to count. Each special to me in a unique way.
  • 762. Music. It unleashes a creativity in me I didn’t believe existed. Different music – different moods – different results. All wonderful.
  • 763. Seeing life through 3 1/2 year old eyes.
  • 764. Having so much food that I am capable of being overweight – and having my eyes opened to the true blessing that it is.
  • 765. The limitlessness of grace.
  • 766. The feel of a pen in my hand and a blank piece of paper in front of me.
  • 767. Technology that brings people closer together.
  • 768. Another day to love my husband.
  • 769. Moments of peace, right before falling asleep.
  • 770. My life.

One Thousand Gifts – Part 93

  • 756. Blue sky & sunshine. Regardless of the temperature outside, there’s nothing like clear blue to cheer up my heart.
  • 757. Having routines with J5 when he gets off the bus from school – hugs, blankies, snacks, and now… Rolie Polie Olie!
  • 758. Looking forward to Florida vacation to go see The Mouse!
  • 759. Avedis had a good night at the clinic and even ate dinner.
