Lundie,

Hang in there!

I have found that sometimes, there are seasons in life...a season of feeling overwhelmed, for example. The key is how we get through that time.

First of all, things always look worse at night. Have you ever noticed that? I'm sure there's a reason. Just get through the nights and focus on the days for a while.

Secondly, realize that you can choose to not be depressed. Satan is a liar. He says that when we're depressed, there's just nothing you can do about it, you just have to feel the feelings.

I'm a doctor. I know that there are biochemical reasons for depression. After several weeks of feeling down and overwhelmed and stressed, your brain does get depleted of the chemicals that help us deal with stress.

But, if it's just been a few days, you can easily overcome that with a decision. You CAN decide to be happy.

Satan will fight you, but you CAN do it. Every time you're tempted to think a thought that you know is contrary to the Word, you have to stop and fight that negative thought with a positive thought.

YOU CAN DO IT. You have access to enough good information from your Bible and from Faith Lifts and from your bookshelf (most likely).

Write down your favorite scriptures and meditate on them throughout the day. Read a devotional that inspires you. Read a good book.

Take control of your feelings. You are the only one who can.

I hope that this doesn't condemn you. I didn't mean to do that. I really, really just want to encourage you and reassure you that you can control your thoughts.

God Loves You and He doesn't want you to be depressed. Jesus came that we might have life and have it more abundantly.

God Bless You!
