Book Review - The Witness - Rating: 4 1/2 out of 5

The Witness, by Dee Henderson

Gosh, I love this author! My absolute favorites were her “O’Malley series” books. They each told the individual yet intertwined stories of a group of orphans who adopted each other and all took the O’Malley name to make themselves a family. Her books are part mystery, part romance, and part Christian living. Her balance is good for clean and entertaining reading!

Content: 4
Writing Style: 5
Re-readability: 4.5

The Witness is the latest of her novels to hit the shelves. Overall, a really good read, however, there was a particular plot twist I would have preferred she not make. I will not ruin the story line, but needed to give a reason for the reduced scores instead of a full 5-star rating. It affected both my opinion of the the content and my desire to re-read.

One thing I really did enjoy was the way she had several plot lines going at once. Her previous novels tended to be a little more straight forward. I wouldn’t be surprised if this book happens to be the beginning of another series. And I will buy all of them when they come out!

While this book didn’t receive a full “5″, I do have to say I enjoyed (almost) every moment reading it. Dee Henderson’s books are like brain candy to me. They’re the kind of book I want to read in a hot bath, or curled up on the couch with a hot cup of tea. I can usually read her books over a good sleepy weekend, and this one was no exception - even if I did end up reading about a page at a time while sitting in the play area with Jack and having to hide it from him every other minute!!
